Still Not Over It – Sundance 2022
The 2022 Sundance Film Festival, which occurred fully digitally, was shockingly engaging, enjoyable, and left us at Reel Mamas Chicago wanting more–and more. This year’s festival marks RMC’s third time officially covering the festival and the first time for this author to experience a virtual film festival from the perspective of a journalist. Although there were considerable concerns prior to participation that in an era rifled with Zoom-fatigue, another virtual activity would even be good. The decision to confront one’s prejudices had been made, and just like that RMC was back, but this time with full staff hands on deck.
The films screened were refreshing and befitting of the Sundance Institute’s original mission of fostering new voices in storytelling. [see www.sundance.org] RMC is still not over the fun of Sundance 2022, and we’re taking time to address all lingering feelings that deserve to be hashed out. Was there a favorite film? Was there a disappointing viewing? Was there diversity in the voices being shared? We’re addressing the pros and cons and are excited to leave no stone unturned. Please continue to support us as we highlight moments of Sundance ‘22 in a way that only Reel Mamas Chicago can do.
Happy viewing ~
